Volunteers
Deaf Literacy Initiative is always looking for keen and committed volunteers to help with our mandate. Volunteers give freely of their time and expertise in order to make a difference.
Volunteering can help you:
- make important networking contacts
- learn or develop skills
- gain work experience
- improve health
- to share expertise
- build self-esteem and self-confidence
- help you meet new people
- understand literacy issues
- to feel needed and valued
- to get to know the literacy community
- to gain leadership skills
- to earn academic credit
- to build a resume
Volunteers also help us strengthen our services by offering new and creative ideas, special skills, and a genuine concern for the people in our programs and our direction for the future. Why do they do it? As our volunteers know, there are many reasons. In return, we are committed to giving them worthwhile and challenging opportunities that match their individual skills and interests.
If volunteering at our agency is of interest to you, please contact us at peggyanne@deafliteracy.ca.
